'Quiltscapes by Pauline Burbidge'
is now on show at the ‘International Quilt Study Center and Museum’ in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA until 25th March 2017.
The exhibition is concerned with recent works that connect with rural landscape/textile landscapes. Two of my works from the museum collection are shown alongside new work loaned for the show.
I have chosen to explore several printing and drawing techniques that are new to me. For example, cyanotype and mono printing.
Cyanotype is an early photographic printing method which uses the sun’s rays to expose light onto pre-treated cloth to create a print. The result is a print with a predominance of a wonderful indigo type of blue colour.
Mono printing lends itself wonderfully to 'one-off' fabric prints. I chose to keep them very simple, often working with black and white.
I am very proud to have my work shown in such a wonderful museum. Please go and visit!
The next OPEN STUDIO exhibition at Allanbank Mill Steading, will be from the 4th - 7th of August 2017.
We are delighted to be showing the work of Colin Rose – sculpture and drawings. We really look forward to welcoming him to our event, and witnessing his dialogue between these surroundings and his chosen works.
