FUNCTIONABLE, USABLE BED QUILTS & COUCH THROWS
QUILTLINE
Quiltline pieces are made as functional and usable quilts (although they too can be hung on the wall). I usually make them bed-sized, or sometimes smaller, to use as couch throws.
I draw directly onto the cloth, using various fabric crayons; imagery often relates to plant forms. I work free-hand with my long-arm machine to stitch an intense network of quilting over the whole piece, creating a good texture throughout, and finally launder the piece again and hand finish. They are double-sided quilts, white on one side and black on the other. These quilts are completely washable and functional.
